Johnny  Edward Owens, Sr., 69 of Vernon, Texas died on Friday, June 3, 2022, in Vernon, Texas.

Services will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Fantroy officiating. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Johnny was born Sunday, November 9, 1952 in Vernon, Texas, he was the son of the late Richard Owens and the late Willie Mullins Owens. He married Sophie Knotts on September 3, 1976 in Vernon. He was a Maintenance Supervisor at Woods Nursing Home and he worked at Tyson's, Waggoner National Bank, Vernon Power Plant and Waggoner Estate. He was a member of the  Church of Christ.

Johnny is survived by his wife Sophie Owens of the home. his  sons, Johnny E. Owens, Jr., (Summer) Dorian Dametrias Owens, Sr. (Amy) of Vernon, TX, Christopher Lamont Owens Sr. (Shawanka) of Grand Prairie, TX and Dorian Dametrias Owens, Jr. ( Mariah) of Vernon, TX, his granddaughter Drewcilla Shepherd who he raised as a daughter. His brothers, Tony Owens of Electra, TX and Dwight Owens of Vernon, TX, sisters, Vivian Crawford of Vernon, TX, Barbara Williams of Vernon, TX and Doris Dennis (Jay) of Wichita Falls, TX; 25 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. His special friends Michael Frantroy and Larry Brown. His Homies for life: Sherman Knotts, Tony Grace, Ivory Boyce, Sr., Melvin Scott, and preceded in death Horace Ray Tubbs and Willie James Houges, Sr.

Johnny is preceded in death by parents, mother Willie Faye Owens, father Richard Owens, maternal and paternal grandparents, two brothers Willie B. Fanner (June), Richard Owens, Jr. (BoWright), grandson Dameon Blake and one great-great grandson Antwan King, Jr.
