Josie Chavez Lucio, 82 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10:00 am at First Assembly of God with Rev. Robert Diekmann officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Josie was born Monday, November 24, 1941, in Cameron, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Emilo Chavez, Sr. and the late Adislada "Lillie" Ramirez Chavez. She worked for TG&Y Department Store, Discovery Days Daycare, Wilbarger General Hospital as an OB nurse's aide, and at North Texas State Hospital for thirty-two years on the BMTP Unit. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Josie is survived by her loving companion of thirty-seven years, Rudy Lucio of the home; two sons, Paul Rodriguez & wife Rebecca of Wichita Falls, Texas and Rudy Lucio, Jr. & wife Valeria of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Renee Nava (Dusty) of Vernon, Texas, Diane Zambrano & husband Roger of Vernon, Texas, Veronica Rico & husband Hugo of Dallas, Texas and Alexa Lucio of Vernon, Texas; eight siblings, Vincent Chavez, Emilio Chavez, Jr., Ruben Chavez, Angie Quintero, Nicky Grigsby, Lillie Ramos, Mary Alice Contreras, and Emilia Rodriguez; twenty grandchildren, Melanie Holloway, Jennifer Matthews, Albert Ranjel, April Maldonado, Jeremy Ledesma, Aaron Ledesma, Roger Zambrano, Jr., Ella Zambrano, Tiffany Echols, Hagan Pierce, Hayley Bennett, Helayna Nava, Faith Rico, Italy Rico, Hugo Rico, Jr., Daniel Stanfill, Lindabel Lucio, Taya Lucio, Mateo Lucio, and Madiline Lucio. Josie also leaves behind twenty-nine great grandchildren and her loving puppy, Zoey.
Josie is preceded in death by her son, Joe Michael Rodriguez; her daughter, Laura Ranjel; her grandson, Michael Paul Echols; two great grandchildren, Paytlynn & Adrian Pierce, and two brothers, Rodrigo Chavez and Jesse Chavez.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to First Assembly of God Church, Vernon, Texas.
