Joyce Lair Fraticelli passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on July 28, 1936, in Royalty, Texas, to George Cecil Lair and Frances Louise Lair. She was raised in several cities across Texas before her family eventually settled in Vernon. During her youth, Joyce spent one unforgettable summer in Montana, and under those big Montana skies, she developed an even deeper passion for the cowgirl lifestyle. She was raised alongside her parents, her brother James, and her sister Neita Gwyn Lair Jean. It was during these early years that Joyce's strong work ethic, love for nature, and gentle spirit began to take shape—traits that would define her for the rest of her life.

As a young woman, Joyce met Clarence "Freddy" Stanley Fraticelli, Sr., and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family in Vernon, Texas. Their bond was strong, and their home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the values they held dear.

Joyce was the proud mother of five children: Clarence Stanley Fraticelli, Jr., and his wife Angie (Plano, Texas), Rebecca Cooper (Lawton, Oklahoma), Cindy Watts, and her husband John (Vernon, Texas), Emily Chamberlain, and her husband Danny (Vernon, Texas), David Fraticelli, Sr. (Frederick, Oklahoma)

She was a loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren, and a cherished great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was lovingly known as "Granny" to just about everyone, whether they were family or not. She had a kind, nurturing spirit and was often described as one of the sweetest women anyone had ever met. Joyce had a natural way of making people feel cared for, and she shared her love freely with everyone who crossed her path.

While Joyce was primarily a homemaker, she held many odd jobs over the years around Vernon from waitressing, to working at the newspaper office, to gas stations, and just about everything in between. She was also a talented artist, and her creativity left a lasting impression on those around her. Joyce inspired many in her family, and even beyond, to explore their own artistic gifts, with some going on to pursue careers in the arts, carrying her influence with them. No matter where she worked or what she was doing, Joyce always made time for her family, offering them constant love, encouragement, and unwavering support. Her strength, creativity, and dedication were evident in everything she did.

After retiring together, Joyce and Freddy purchased land in Wilbarger County with the dream of creating a place where their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could gather and make memories. That land became their sanctuary—complete with a treehouse for the kids, a peaceful pond, and room to roam. One of Joyce's greatest joys was her beloved horse, Cherokee, whom she personally trained from untamed to tamed with patience, love, and quiet determination. It was one of her proudest accomplishments. The land wasn't just property—it was home, filled with laughter, love, and the legacy they built together.

Joyce was a devoted member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation, and her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She found comfort, purpose, and community in her beliefs, attending meetings regularly and living by the principles she held close to her heart. Her spiritual strength shaped the way she loved, served, and supported her family—always with humility, kindness, and compassion.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stanley Fraticelli, Sr.; her son, David Fraticelli, Sr.; her grandson, Daniel Chamberlain; her parents, George C. Lair and Francis L. Lair; and her brother, James Lair, and sister Joy (Peanut) Elsie Lair and Neita Gwyn Lair Jean.

Following the services, family and friends are invited to a reception honoring Joyce's life at the Wilbarger Memorial Auditorium – Western Room.

Though her physical presence will be missed, Joyce's legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she shaped, and the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
