Joyce Ladell
Lindsey
Sep 14, 1932 — Nov 9, 2023
Joyce Ladell Lindsey, 91 of Vernon, Texas went home to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Vernon, Texas. She was born on September 14, 1932, in Denton, Texas.
Joyce was a loving Mom, Granny, sister, and friend to all those who knew her. Her beautiful heart was seen in her friendly, bubbly personality, and if you knew her, you loved her. She had a love for bowling and would travel many miles to participate in bowling tournaments where she often took home a trophy. She loved her family with her whole heart. If you ever had the opportunity to be seated at one of her tables at Furr's Cafeteria during her close to twenty years of dedicated service, then she probably loved you too! She retired from Furr's Cafeteria located in Lubbock, Texas, and soon after moved to Midland, Texas to live with her daughter Theresa. After her daughter was called home, she became a valued member of the Johnson household. Her daughter, Debbie Johnson, had the pleasure of caring for her until she was called home by our loving Savior. She moved in to Advanced Rehab in March of 2015 where she spent her final years loving the wonderful staff and residents of Advanced who were very dear to her heart. She will be missed so much by all of those that knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Debbie & husband Roger Johnson of Vernon, Texas; sons, James Richard Lindsey, Jr. of Lubbock, Texas and Randy & wife Linda Lindsey of Charlotte, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Josh Rodgers, Chase Rodgers, Lindsey Rodgers, Justin Johnson, Shyla Johnson, Marli Johnson, Jamie Lindsey, Ricky Lindsey III, Aaron Lindsey, Rachel Schmidt, Christy Lindsey, and Brandi Keets; twenty two great grandchildren; sister, Linda & husband Chuck Moore of Bedford, Texas, and brother, Jimmy Powers of Azle, Texas.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Powers and Dollie Willis Moore; her daughter, Theresa Keets, and sons, Ronnie Rodgers and Bobby Lindsey.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Mr. Steve McSpadden officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donation be made to Pease River Cowboy Church Youth Group at First Capital Bank.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
