Obituary

Joycelyn Lou Spears Neller, 57, of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, died on June 4, 2022, at her home in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Joycelyn was born on August 10, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was daughter to the late David Winfield Spears and the late Linda Lou Grammer. She married Shannon John Joseph Neller on December 15, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Deeply in love and inseparable, they actively sought out adventures across the globe and looked forward to a long and happy life together.

Joycelyn was a graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1982. She graduated from Texas Tech University with both a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science and a Master's in Education, and she was a member of the Texas Tech "Raiderette" Dance Team and the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She served as a Family and Consumer Science County Extension Agent; an educator in multiple Texas towns and cities; an entrepreneur; a WOOFer; an educational consultant; a blogger; and an educator, Director of English Faculty, Assistant Principal, and Academic Vice Principal in various schools in the United Arab Emirates. She most recently served as Academic Vice Principal of the United Private School in Al Ain, UAE.  Joycelyn was also the passionate and proud founder of Fifty & Co., a unique platform and community for smart, sexy women (and men) ready to share secrets of living adventurously at any age.

Possessing the unique blend of both a princess and a protector, Joycelyn was cut from a mold never to be reformed. Joycelyn lived life to the fullest and always made time to share her love with friends and family. A free spirit who lived an exhilarating life of fun and adventure, she forged friendships effortlessly and easily all around the world. Joycelyn loved dancing, working out, and the colors pink and rose gold. She was kind, caring, and funny, and her infectious positive energy and personality lit up every room she walked into. For those she so warmly embraced, her super hugs made all the problems of the day melt away.

Joycelyn is survived by her husband, Shannon John Joseph Neller, her former husband, Jerry Riley, and their two children, Weston Blake Riley and wife Angie of Colorado Springs, CO, and David Robert Riley and wife Anne of Clovis, NM, and their daughter and Joycelyn's first granddaughter Raina Blake Riley, sisters Mikka Lou Haynes and husband Barry of Chillicothe, Texas, and Lauren Ann Spears and husband Aaron Green of Harpers Ferry, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Linda Spears, and her sweet cat Tabby.

Rest in Peace "Sunny Sweets" and long live the beauty that touches us all.
