Obituary

Juanita Alvarado, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 4, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on September 19, 1950, in Wheelock, Texas, Juanita was the cherished daughter of Juan and Lupe Alvarado.

Throughout her life, Juanita was known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering strength. She was a woman who loved deeply and was fiercely devoted to her family and friends. Her warm smile and open heart made everyone feel welcome, and her home was often filled with laughter, music, and the comforting aroma of her cooking.

Juanita's professional journey was as varied and dynamic as her personality. She worked at The Humdinger, Wilbarger General Hospital, and Elliot Cotton Gin, where she made many lifelong friends and left a lasting impact with her dedication and work ethic.

A woman of many talents, Juanita had a passion for dancing and tejano music. Her love for life was infectious, and she could often be found on the dance floor, moving to the rhythm with grace and joy. Cooking was another of her many gifts, and her meals were a testament to her love and care for those around her. Gathering family and friends around a table filled with her delicious dishes was one of her greatest pleasures.

Juanita was a beacon of strength and wisdom for her family, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer guidance and advice. Her legacy of love and resilience is carried forward by her children, Loretta Briones, Christopher Alvarado, John Joe Pena, and Timothy Pena, as well as her 16 cherished grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Alvarado Sr., and her brothers, Juan Alvarado Jr., Luis Alvarado, and son Micheal Alvarado. Their memories, along with Juanita's, will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved them.

A viewing will be held on November 12, 2026 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. A service to celebrate Juanita's life will be held on November 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory.
