Karen Jean Hunter, 78, went to her Heavenly home on October 17, 2024. She was born on February 23, 1946, in Weslaco, Texas, daughter of WJ & Ethel Sutton.

Services will be held at a later date.

She met and fell in love with Hollis Gene Hunter. They were married on November 19, 1966. She was a member of First Assembly of God. Jean, as many knew her, worked for several years with North Texas State Hospital and TYC in food service. She had also worked for Vernon Independent Schools in the cafeteria, and she was also a paper carrier with the Vernon Daily Record for many years. She loved to sing and play the piano.

Jean is survived by her two children, (son) Hollis Dewayne and (daughter) Karen Michelle (fiancée) Barrett Kowalski all of Vernon, three grandchildren, Amber Bosma, Jenna Bosma of Vernon, and Matthew Bosma of Colorado, two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Shayne of Haskel, Texas, and sister, Uvone (Cecil) Spier of Burkburnett, Texas. She also leaves behind many friends. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Hollis, parent, WJ & Ethel, one sister, Yvona Rumsfield and her brother, Lalvin Sutton.

Memorial can be made to Advanced Rehab or First Assembly of God.
