Kenneth Eugene Burnett, 83 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 6, 2023 at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Russell and Rev. Brooks Kimmey officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born Tuesday, April 4, 1939 in Hale Center, Texas, to the late John W. Burnett and the late Winnie Cook Burnett. Kenneth married Carol Burnett on April 4, 1964 in Bridgeport Texas. Carol passed away on December 25, 2003. In Kenneth's early years he owned a Mobile Station in Chillicothe, Texas, later he was a salesman and a service manager for GordonTidmore and Chris Krebs Motors. He had also worked the Wilbarger County Jail. The last nine years Kenneth was a substitute teacher for the Vernon High School, and he was loved by so many. Kenneth was a member of the Chillicothe and Vernon Masonic Lodge. Kenneth and his family were members of the First Baptist Church in Vernon and he attended the J. Carl Smith Sunday School Class.
Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Kathy Burnett of Vernon, TX and Kerry Burnett and Kim Moran of Iowa Park, TX, two grandchildren Erik Sabine and wife Laura and Matthew Burnett, two great grandchildren Josiah Sabine and Isaiah Sabine, along with several nieces and nephews. Kenneth also leaves behind his dear friends Allen Storek and Sharon Storek. Kenneth loved all his students at Vernon High School.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents John and Winnie Burnett, his wife Carol Burnett and one daughter Debbie Brownlow in 2006.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the J. Carl Smith Sunday School Class or the Vernon Masonic Lodge.
