Kirby Lionel Garrett, 59 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Kirby was born Saturday, March 14, 1964, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Granville G. Garrett, Sr. and the late Frances Knight Garrett. He worked as a plumber, roofer, and handyman. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church.

Kirby is survived by his girlfriend, Doreen Lawson of the home; one son, Levi Garrett; one daughter, Frances Sims of Cameron, Texas; two brothers, Ollie Garrett of Vernon, Texas and Eldon Garrett & wife Rhonda of Vernon, Texas; four sisters, Clemmie Gonzales & husband David of Fort Worth, Texas, Kathy Sims of New Mexico, Beverly "Katy" Marlow of Crowell, Texas, and Bernice Lozano of Vernon, Texas. Kirby also leaves behind three grandchildren.

Kirby is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jesse Garrett, Talmage Garrett, and G. G. Garrett, Jr., and one sister, Frances Jean Long.
