Obituary

Larry Shores, 71, of San Antonio, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Larry was born on Monday, July 26, 1954, in Vernon. He was the son of the late Paul Shores and Frances Shores. He was a 1971 graduate of Vernon High School. Larry was employed for many years with the W. T. Waggoner Ranch before later moving to San Antonio, where he was employed with Hill Country Steel for the past 21 years.

Larry had a passion for music and loved playing his guitar. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and treasured the adventures of hunting for hidden treasures on the Waggoner Ranch, the place he proudly called home during his childhood. Above all else, Larry loved his family deeply. His greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Most importantly, Larry had placed his faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins and knew the promise of eternal life.

Larry is survived by his wife, Paula Rios, of the home; seven children: Cody Shores and wife Amy of Cedar Park, Texas; David Shores and wife Kelly of Austin, Texas; Amanda Williams of Cleburne, Texas; Sierra Wilson and husband Greg of Georgia; Savanah Shores and Graham Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; Paul Shores of San Antonio, Texas; and bonus daughter Taylor Rios of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

Larry is further survived by three sisters: Loretta Peterson and husband Richard of Los Angeles, California; Renita Macias and husband Val of Vernon, Texas; and Sherri Edwards and husband Bubba of Vernon, Texas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frances Shores; his brother, Tommy Shores; and three sisters, Billie Dowis, Paula Lacy, and JoAnn Smith.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Vernon, Texas.
