Leon Allen Hopkins, 67 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 31, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Wilbarger Memorial Park with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Leon was born Saturday, October 17, 1953 in Vernon, Texas.  He was the son of the late Timothy Lee Brown Hopkins and Lilian Thomas Hopkins. Leon married Josie Anderson on July 2, 1977 in Vernon, Texas. Leon worked at the Vernon State Hospital in the rehab department for twenty-six years. Leon and his family attended Second Baptist Church. Leon always enjoyed coaching little league baseball. He loved all sports. He always supported his kids with the Vernon football and band, never missing a game. He also played volleyball for several years thru the Vernon State Hospital.

Leon is survived by his wife Josie Hopkins, his children, Brian Hopkins and wife Donna of Denison, TX, Connie Hopkins of Vernon, TX Carrie Garza and husband James of Vernon, TX, Scott Hopkins of Vernon, TX and Christopher Hopkins and wife Clara of Vernon, TX, Six grandchildren, Mandy Elrod, Skylar Elrod, Samantha Belcher, Allen Belcher, Jasmine Hopkins and Ezra Jackson, along with four great grandchildren, Edward Huggins, Bailey Fletcher, Olivia Huggins and Lydia Huggins. Leon also leaves behind his siblings, Roger Hopkins, Ruby Wilkinson, Carol Jean Collinsworth, Peggy Hopkins, Mary Wilkinson and Louise McDonald.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents Timothy Lee Brown Hopkins and Lilian Hopkins, siblings John Hopkins, Dan Hopkins, Carolyn Hopkins, and Clair May Loggins.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
