Luther Wesley
"Critter" Chism
Jul 8, 1943 — Apr 5, 2024
Luther Wesley Chism of Decatur, Texas passed away on April 5, 2024, in Dalhart, Texas. Wesley was born on July 8, 1943 to Luther and Ida Lee Chism in Crowell, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Weitner officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Wesley grew up farming with his family near Rayland. After leaving the farm, Wesley went to work for Karcher's in Lockett for many years. Upon getting married and starting a family, he then worked for Wright's for nearly 20 years. While working at Wright's, he raised four children whom he loved dearly. Wesley finished his career working for Ray Cannedy Security in Wichita Falls for the next decade. After officially retiring in 2006, Wesley spent much of his time as an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and his family.
Wesley was preceded in death by his two twin sons, Wesley and Lesley Chism, Father Luther Chism, mother Ida Lee Thomas Chism, brothers, J.T, Charles, Cletus, Roy, Weldon, Q.D and Roy Chism, and his granddaughter Tiffany Roberts.
He is survived by his son John Chism, three daughters, Faith Roberts, Hope Biddy and Charity Chism, eleven grandchildren Joseph Baker II, Dakota Baker, Tesla Duke, Rebekkah Roberts, Rachel Lopez, Robert Lopez, Jewel Chism, Jacob Chism, Brooklyn Chism, J.P Chism, and Emerald Chism, 17 great grandchildren, and sister Barbara Webb.
Wesley was a hard worker and deeply loved by his family. He was a selfless individual who continually provided for his family, often doing without to ensure that his family was provided for. This never went unnoticed by his children.
The greatest comfort the family has today is knowing that they will be reunited with Wesley one day. Wesley put his faith and trust in Christ years ago, and he often prayed and studied the Word of God!
Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home.
