Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Steven Brummett officiating under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Luther was born Sunday, November 16, 1941, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Luther Arnold Foerster and the late Lorine Schur Foerster. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February of 1964 and released due to illness. He was then transferred into the National Guard to complete his five-year term. He started his career in Bill Shivers Body Shop, and then he and a friend started their own body shop business in Vernon.
His passion for farming began as a young boy helping his grandfather Edwin Foerster with his farm. This passion pulled him toward farming and started custom farming for local farmers. He began to acquire land and equipment, and this started the beginning of Foerster Hay and Cattle Farms.
Luther married Lonnette Frith on December 27, 1966, at the Zion Lutheran Church where he had been a member all of his life. They raised two daughters and many stray animals on the farm during their life together.
Luther was very kindhearted and enjoyed helping people and was always a good Samaritan towards anyone who needed help, person or animal.
Luther is survived by his wife, Lonnette Foerster of the home, his two daughters, Stephanie Gutierrez and Amy Foerster and his granddaughter, Caroline Gutierrez all of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Brannon and her husband AJ Brannon of Vernon, Texas, their daughter, Andrea Hobby and her husband John of Austin, Texas, his dog, Tucker and his cats.
Visitation will be at the Zion Lutheran Center from 1:00 pm until graveside services begin at 2:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to the Wilbarger Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
