Lena Mae Naylor, age 91, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. Born in Clarendon, Texas, on August 16, 1932, Lena spent most of her life in Thalia and Vernon, Texas, enriching her community.

Funeral Service: The service will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terry Tamplen. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Clarendon Cemetery, Clarendon, Texas.

Mae was the cherished daughter of Carl Bernard Morris and Lena Mae Miller Morris. She married her beloved Duane Naylor in 1951 in Clarendon. After a brief stay at Fort Hood during Duane's military service, where they welcomed their first son, the family moved to Clarendon, adding a second son, then to Thalia, where their family grew to include one more son and a daughter.

The thing about our mother/grandmother is that she loved and accepted us and everyone she met with grace and unconditional love. We learned many things from her— a love of and appreciation for animals and nature, the importance of feeling and sharing gratitude daily, and the joy of music and dance. However, how to love others was the most powerful of her lessons and wishes for us and the world. Can you hear her saying, "Honey catches more flies than vinegar?" The love she poured into her grandchildren, her poppets and buckaroos, reflected her approach to life.

Everyone who met her loved her; that was her magic – lead with love always. She was passionate about wildflowers, birds, her Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers, so raise a toast to her next time you go or watch them! Mae was retired but had worked as a farmer alongside her life mate Duane and in our communities as a van driver, a gin office manager, and a teacher. We know her family, friends, and neighbors will remember her as someone who always had room for others at her table and was willing to always say yes to being a class sponsor and other helpful adventures.

Mae's commitment to community was evident through her involvement with the Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, United Methodist Women, and the Red Hat Ladies. An avid bridge player, she cherished the friendships formed over games, only parting ways with her bridge sisters when the circumstances of COVID demanded she move to Alaska for two and a half years.

Mae is survived by her children, Danny Naylor (Debbie) of Binger, Oklahoma, Ronny Naylor (Lorie) of Granbury, Texas, Richard Naylor (Vickie) of Amarillo, Texas, and Jonna Naylor (Wendy) of Wasilla, Alaska.  She was a proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren: Maegan McVoy, Royce Naylor, Becca Naylor, Kenny Young, Christy White, Misty Hall, Haley Naylor, Kinsey Byles, Christina Swaim, Erin Leach, Michael Naylor, Brittany Fishback Lewis, Tyler Fishback, and Christopher Fishback. Mae also leaves behind nineteen great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Duane, brothers Carl and John Miller Morris, and sister Naomi Green, Lena's legacy of love and acceptance remains a beacon for all who knew her.

Visitation: Thursday, May 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and before the service on Friday, May 3, at 8:00 AM at Sullivan Funeral Home.
