Mae Helen Phillips, 95 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Texas. Burial will follow at Chillicothe Cemetery.

Mae Helen Phillips was born on September 15th, 1930, in Quanah, Texas, to Reverend Tom L. Longmiles and Annie L. Paul Longmiles. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and remained a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Quanah, Texas. On September 27th, 1947, she married John Henry Phillips in Chillicothe, Texas, with whom she had two sons, John Henry Phillips Jr. and Raymond Carl Phillips. Mae Helen's life was defined by her roles as wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and caregiver, as well as her passions for cooking, baking, sewing, writing, and spending quality time with her family. She was also employed by several prominent families, including the Joel McCellan family, Dan Mike Bird, and Mrs. Bea Stepp. Following her relocation to Advance Rehab in Vernon, Texas, in April 2020, Mae Helen actively participated in church services and formed lasting friendships.

Mae Helen is survived by her grandchildren, Shree Huff and her husband Jason, Kevin Sims and his wife Chiara, Raymond Carl Phillips Jr, Tiffany Conniff, and Cecela Willie and her husband Marcus, her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Chiania and her husband Andrew, Chloe, Chase, Sean and his wife Lillie, Olivia, Kristen, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother, David Longmiles and his wife Berniece, her sister Ethel Wilson and her husband Donny Ray, and a niece whom she shared a special bond; Wanda J. Mitchell and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Mae Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, brothers Harold, Tommy, George, Paul, and Silas Longmiles, and sisters Ruthie Brown, Arnee Smith, Tommie L Mitchell, close realities and friends.

Throughout her life, Mae Helen exemplified exceptional compassion, wit, and refined elegance, earning her the respect and admiration of her community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as Sister, Aunt Mae Helen, Grandma, Mother Mae and Ms. Mae.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel.
