Obituary

Margie "Marge" Byrd Reese was born on a cold snowy Wednesday morning, March 1, 1931, in Blanket, Texas. She grew up riding her favorite horse, Peanut, and tending to her little lambs who were left as orphans.

In first grade she attended Early Elementary School. She continued her education there and graduated from Early High School in 1948. Next on her agenda was to get a college degree. In 1952 she graduated from Texas State College in Denton, Texas (now Texas Women's University) with a degree in Kindergarten/Primary Education. She began her teaching career in Midland, Texas where she met and married Joe Bob Reese. For the next thirty one years she taught first and second grades in Lamesa, Amarillo, Dumas, and Vernon ISD's. Margie was crowned Coming Home Queen at her Early High School fifty year reunion in 1998. Her last two and a half years were spent in Frisco, Texas where she could be close to her family.

The family would like to thank her special Visiting Angels McKinney and Three Oaks Hospice caregivers for their kind and gentle care these past two and a half years.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Reynoso (John); two granddaughters, Amie Turnage (Ryan) and Stephanie Cherry (John); great grandchildren, Gavin, Holden, & Beckham Turnage, and Wittly & Wilder Cherry.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bob Reese; parents, William Silas Byrd & Eula Sears Byrd; siblings, Velma Graham (Bob), Silas Ray Byrd (Ruth), Dorothy Jean Milam (C.B.), and nephew, William Silas "Bill" Byrd.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ.
