Margrea Nelson Benton, 79 of Vernon, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Sullivan's Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park, Vernon, Texas.

Margrea was born Monday, July 16, 1945, in Rusk County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Tom Mills and the late Leohmia Nelson. She married James A Benton, on March 25, 1961, in Vernon, Texas. She worked for thirty plus years at Vernon Manufacturing Company until it closed and ten years at White's Sporting Goods. She was also the secretary for their business Benton Dozier Service. Margrea loved to sew and fish. Above all, she loved her grandchildren.

Margrea is survived by two daughters, Edsel Tubbs of Vernon, Texas, and Aletha Newman & husband Earnest of Vernon Texas; three sisters, Lula Hughes & husband Rossie of Wichita Falls, Texas, Vera Ervin of Dallas, Texas, Nevaline Jones of Fort Worth, Texas. Margrea also leaves behind grandchildren Margaret Kincaid & husband Danny, Brianna Chapman & husband Patrick, Preston Newman all of Vernon, Texas, Louis Tubbs of Torrance, California, and Brittany Lejia & husband Max of Roscoe, Texas, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Margrea is preceded in death by her husband, James Benton on August 20, 2015, her brothers, Rayford Mills, Ralph Mills, and Clifton Mills and sisters, Verna Lee McGiness, Leothrea Goree.
