Marlene Felty Huffer 83 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, in Fargo, Texas at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery in Altus, OK under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Marlene was born June 2, 1941, in Wichita Falls, TX. She was the last of seven children born to A.P. and Flora Wallace Felty.
She married Ralph H. Huffer May 18, 1958, at the home of their pastor in Altus, OK. She graduated from Altus High School and became a homemaker and mother later in her life.
She and her husband moved to Vernon in 1978, and opened Thee Olde Doughnut Shoppe, later to be renamed Ma's Donut & Bakery after their grandson. For the next twenty years they served Vernon and made many friends and loyal customers. Marlene loved serving and talking to everyone.
Later she went to work at North Texas State Hospital where she retired after ten years.
She loved singing at church, first as a member at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus, OK and then later as a dedicated member at Faith Methodist Church in Vernon, TX. Marlene was there for her church when the doors were opened.
She loved each and every member of her family and stories to go along with them. She also loved her church family.
Marlene is survived by one daughter, Donna Thomas & husband Scotty of Vernon, TX; one sister, Darlene Bergquist of New Braunfels, TX, and one sister-in-law, Sue Felty of Granite, OK. Marlene also leaves behind two grandchildren, Michael Shackleton and Kimberly Shackleton, both of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, A.P. & Flora Felty, her husband, Ralph H. Huffer, her two sisters, June Felty and Frances James, and three brothers, Jack Felty, Jimmy Felty, and Herman Felty.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Healing Hands Hospice of Wichita Falls, TX for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 10:00 am until funeral services begin.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, TX.
