Mary Lynn Moreland Abernathy, 73, of Vernon, Texas, died on Monday, September, 20, 2021 in Vernon, Texas.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:00pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at Wilbarger Memorial Park to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Brooks Kimmey.

Lynn was born on Monday, October 6 ^th , 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Bobby Joe Moreland and the late Mary Smith Moreland. She married Larry Abernathy on August 30 ^th , 1969, in Tulsa. She was a graduate of Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, and Oklahoma State University with a degree in education. Lynn was an elementary school teacher for 20 years. She taught four years in Houston, Texas, then sixteen years in second grade at Central Elementary School in Vernon. Lynn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vernon, Texas.

Lynn is survived by her husband Larry, their three children: Stacy Abernathy Jackson and husband Jeffrey (Lindale, Texas), Lyle Abernathy and wife Megan (Vernon), Leigh Abernathy (Dallas, Texas), and three grandchildren: Mark Jackson, Luke Jackson, and Maggie Jackson. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Moreland, and wife Leslie (Leawood, Kansas).
