Obituary

Our dear, sweet Momma, Mary Evelyn Nava Swindle, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the age of 71.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Castleberry and Mr. Sonny Winship officiating.

Mary was born Tuesday, September 23, 1952, in Wilbarger County. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Rosie Nava. She married Clifford Swindle on November 24, 1983, in California. Mary retired in 1990 from Wilbarger County Precinct One. While there she drove a dump truck, frontend loader and other heavy equipment. She had the privilege of working alongside her dad and Oscar Joe Walker for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her husband, Clifford Swindle, and her children, which were her pride and joy, one son, Bobby Echols (Cynthia), and seven daughters, Shelly Ranjel (Mike), Dena Najera (Lucio), Misty Butler (Dexter), Susanne Echols, Frankie Trejo (Daniel), Linda Villarreal, and Donna Bodine (Lee). Mary was loved by her most precious littles, and to them she was known as "Mary Minol" and "Nana". She was blessed to be loved by twenty four grandchildren, forty eight great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Mary had a partner in crime that she loved and was her best friend and sister, Rosetta Ryerson "Thelma". She also leaves behind four brothers, Jimmy Joe Nava, Mike Nava, Cody Nava, and Nick Nava, and two sisters, Debra Nava and Christy Nava.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Rosie Nava, her grandson, Michael Paul Echols, her sister Sandra Turkett, her brother Frank Nava, Jr., and her great granddaughter, Kaidyn Jae Fanner.

If you knew Mary, then you knew how much she loved you. She was known as the old lady in the shoe that was the mother to everyone she knew and as Momma Mary. She never let you walk away without a hug and a big "I love you". There was never a goodbye, it was always, "I'll see you later".

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorial can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls and Calvary Baptist Church.
