Melvin Lee Whiteside was born in Vernon, Texas on August 31, 1949, to the parents of Malcom Whiteside and Elmer Jean Brooks Whiteside. He worked at Vernon Independent School District before retiring. Melvin was married to Vera Scott in 1971. Melvin was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and loving friend to so many. Melvin was extremely laid back, he liked to spend his time watching professional sports, soap operas and game shows, relaxing, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed sharing his wisdom with those he was close to. Win or lose, his favorite sport teams were Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. Melvin is infamous for his funny antics "No Bullshit", "DJ play that one more time before I get out of dodge", and "Big Boys Don't Cry".

He peacefully departed this life on December 6, 2021. Melvin was preceded in death by his father Malcom Whiteside and sister Judy Ann Whiteside.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories to his mother Elmer Jean Whiteside of Vernon, TX, wife Vera Jo Scott of Vernon, TX, daughters Shawanka Scott (Chris)/granddaughter Kadeja Scott of Grand Prairie, TX, Benedetta Scott of Vernon, TX, Staci Scott of Louisville, KY, Teasie Scott of Vernon, TX, and Nikita Scott of Vernon, TX five brothers Elmer Whiteside of Vernon, TX, Danny Whiteside (Dora) of Vernon, TX, Mitchell Whiteside (Josie) of Cleburne, TX, Vincent Whiteside of Vernon, TX, Kevin Whiteside (Brandi) of Vernon, TX and one sister Crystal Whiteside of Vernon, TX. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
