Mike "Kacal" Maldonado, 66 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel.

Kacal was born Friday, June 26, 1959, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Helen & Delmer Nava and Jesse Maldonado. He married Lee Ann Anthony on May 16, 1980, in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked as a roughneck in the oil field, and for seven years he worked for the North Texas State Hospital and a PNA. He was the North Carolina Tar Heels biggest fan. He was a collector of many things great and small, and he was an avid player of Zelda. Kacal loved to go fishing, and his kids and grandkids were his life. He was a member of Western Trail Cowboy Church.

Kacal is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Maldonado of the home, his sons, Justin Maldonado & wife Brooklyn and Seph Maldonado & husband Jason both of Vernon, Texas, his brothers, Chano Maldonado and David Maldonado both of Vernon, Texas, his sisters, Regina Nava of Vernon, Texas, Margie Maldonado of San Antonio, Texas, Marie Garcia of San Antonio, Texas and Michelle Ploch of Dallas, Texas, and his daughter/granddaughter, Claudia Maldonado of Vernon, Texas. Kacal also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Isiah, Nicholas, Mikal, Abriella, Corinda, Carlyn and Tony and three great grandbabies, Amia, Amelia and Marcelino.

Kacal is preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse "Brother" Maldonado and Castillo Maldonado.

Memorials may be made to the Wilbarger County Humane Society or the Boys & Girls Club of Vernon .
