Monroe Kent King, 62 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 am at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating. 

Kent was born Saturday, October 5, 1963, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Monroe Ace King and the late Virginia Ruth Kitchens King. Kent worked as a parts man for over forty years and was very respected in the auto parts business. He worked for Spans Auto Parts, Vernon Parts, Christanelli Ford, and Vernon Auto Group. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. 

Kent is survived by his brother, Michael Wade King of Amarillo, Texas, his sister, Kelly Rich & husband Donnie of Vernon, Texas, his niece, Paige Ritter and his nephews, Donnie “Bubba” Rich and Nicholas Rich. Kent also leaves behind his extended family, Cynthia & Dee Finley, Tosha & Randall Winship, Joshua & Cloe Finley, Emma Nava, Tina Nava, and Angie & Earl LeDee.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
