Nelson Warden, 87 of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mike Klappenbach officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Nelson was born Saturday, October 17, 1936, in Durant, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Walter L. Warden and the late Georgia Ann Gardener Warden. He married Mary Ann Lucas on November 12, 1955, at Bethel Baptist Church in Elliott, Texas. They were married for sixty eight years. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after forty years. He was an official for football, basketball, and baseball games for many years. Nelson was a member of First Baptist Church.

Nelson is survived by his two daughters, Keta Jolly and Teri Williams both of Vernon, Texas, seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

Nelson is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Warden on August 10, 2024; his two sons, Mike Warden and Donnie Warden; his great grandson, Kameron Hooker; his great granddaughter, Grayson Sutton, and his five siblings.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 9:00 am until funeral services begin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kameron Hooker Scholarship Fund, the Leo Brittain Scholarship Fund, the Lee Ann Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund, or your favorite charity.
