Obituary

Pearly Inez Edwards passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024. Her daughter, Virginia Edwards, sat by her side as she went to her Heavenly home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Ric Rosalez officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Pearly was born at home to the late William Austin Davidson and Hollie Elizabeth James-Davidson on March 12, 1923, in Wilbarger Co, Texas. She was the youngest of five children, all of whom preceded her in death: Oma Davidson, Orville Davidson, Curtis Davidson, Mary Davidson (husband Vaughn), and Truman Davidson.

Pearly was raised in the Hines community before moving to the Harrold community. She attended elementary school there until moving to Vernon, where she graduated from high school in 1941. She attended Draughn's Business College- which later became a part of Midwestern State University- in 1942. She worked as the Executive Secretary for the state of Texas at the Department of Welfare for 32 years before retiring in 1983. She then joyously worked as the secretary of Second Baptist Church before retiring in 1993.

She married the love of her life, Clifford Murray Edwards, on December 22, 1946. They had only known each other for three months, but knew that they were in love. They had three children together: John Edwards, Virginia Edwards, and Hollie Elaine Edwards. Her loving husband passed away on June 12, 1966, and she remained faithful to him since.

Inez enjoyed attending church service, reading her Bible, and taking care of her family. She was passionate and loving. She was the longest living charter member of Second Baptist Church. Her home was lively, and open to all friends and family.

Inez is survived by her children all of Vernon, grandchildren Christy Edwards, Rodney (wife Brenda) Prince of Vernon, TX, Neal (wife Amber) Newton of Olney, TX, Susan (husband Cole) Alexander of Vernon, TX, Erica (husband Jesus) Mendoza of Wichita Falls, TX, Jamie (wife Danika) Edwards of Vernon, TX, and Jonathan (wife Amy) Grimes of Vernon, TX. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, JoNell Miller of Pensacola, FL, and many nieces, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, spouse, and two daughters-in-law, Norma "Dusty" Edwards and Ellen Edwards, and a great granddaughter, Elexus Marie.
