Obituary

Peggy Joyce Walker, 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, in Wichita Falls.

Born on Sunday, March 13, 1938, in Sterling, Kansas, Peggy was the daughter of the late Roy Amyx and Willow Inez Amyx Russell. Her stepfather, Wyatt Calloway Russell, who raised her with great care and became a cherished figure in her life, was especially dear to her heart.

Those who knew Peggy will forever remember her radiant, unforgettable smile - one that could light up a room, comfort a friend in need, or instantly welcome a stranger. It was a true reflection of her kind heart, gentle spirit, and genuine joy in connecting with others.

A lifelong enthusiast of genealogy, Peggy devoted decades to researching and preserving her family's rich history. Her dedication created a cherished legacy of stories, photographs, and discoveries that her loved ones will treasure for generations. She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply but will carry forward the narratives she preserved, the love she shared, and the light she brought into their lives.

Peggy was a successful real estate broker who owned and operated her own agency in Denton, Texas. She later served as a secretary for the Denton School District. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Colonial Dames of America. She was also a faithful member of Village Bible Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Above all, Peggy cherished her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild, celebrating every milestone and holding each one close in her heart. Her love was steady, generous, and unwavering.

Peggy is survived by her three daughters:

•  Dana Watkins and husband Rick of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas

•  Lisa Herber and husband Scott of Vernon, Texas

•  Becky Lusk and husband Ray of Little Rock, Arkansas

She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jason, Jarrett (and wife Chelsea), Kristen (and husband Brad), Kimberly (and husband Cesar), Alex (and wife Haley), Max (and wife Hannah), Dylan (and wife Avery), and John Wyatt; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Amyx and Willow Inez Amyx Russell; her stepfather, Wyatt Calloway Russell; and her brother, James Allen Amyx.
