Saturday evening, October 21, 2023, Randy Hammonds was in a traumatic car accident involving multiple cars in Kansas City, MO. Randy was only 69-years-old. Randy had responded to a neighbor's call whose son was stranded on the interstate. He drove to meet him in his tow truck and was sitting parked on the shoulder with two other vehicles preparing to tow the friends' vehicle when traffic cleared up. Our best understanding is the first car swerved into the next lane and started a series of vehicle collisions which ultimately ended in a semi-truck crashing into Randy's truck. He was rushed to the closest hospital where the trauma team worked on him for over an hour, but his injuries from the crash were too extensive. His children received the phone call that night that he had passed away.

He was born on October 6, 1954 to Fred and Gertie Hammonds in Vernon, TX. He leaves behind five wonderful children Candace, Kyra, Zack, Jordan and Madison as well as three grandchildren Maddox, Theo, and Colby. He is also survived by his two brothers, Roger and Royce Hammonds. Randy was funny, charismatic, clever, and the hardest working person in the room. His family loved him dearly. The family has been absolutely devastated by this unexpected, tragic loss.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 2pm, at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Holley officiating.

We are so grateful for those who helped in the midst of the accident and for those who continue to help as we plan for this unexpected time of rest.
