Richard Torrez, 61 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Ric Rosalez officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Richard was born Thursday, October 31, 1963, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Reyes Torrez and the late Maria DeLaGarza Torrez. He married Heather Gordon on March 27, 2008, in Vernon, Texas. He worked at Plastic Specialty, and then he worked as a plumber with Garcia Plumbing. He was currently working for Sumner Colley Lumber Company. Richard was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife, Heather Gordon of the home, his daughter, Jennifer Herion of Hutchinson, Kansas, three step daughters, Winter Esparza of Abilene, Texas, Natalie Guggisburg of Lubbock, Texas and Karlie Guggisburg of Vernon, Texas, one brother, Michael Torrez of Quanah, Texas, and four sisters, Suzy Diaz of Abilene, Texas, Rosa Leija of Vernon, Texas, Suzannah Hernandez of Vernon, Texas and Autum Jolly of San Angelo, Texas. Richard also leaves behind four grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Reyes & Maria Torrez, his brother, Alfredo Torrez, and his sister, Juanita Lopez.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Second Baptist Church from 1:00 pm until funeral services begin.
