Ricky Oliver Richardson, 70 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Joe Dale Wilson and Ms. Katy Marlow officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Ricky was born Tuesday, March 8, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Jim Richardson and the late Helen Salley Richardson. He was a 1973 graduate of Northside High School. He met Susan Knight when he was a senior in high school, and she was a junior. They soon became high school sweethearts and married on March 21, 1975, in White City, Texas. Ricky and Susan's love stood the test of time as they recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They went on to have two children, Michael and Robin and one grandchild, Christopher Ryan. Christopher was born just five days before Ricky's birthday, and he always said that Christopher was the best birthday gift he ever received.
Ricky worked at Jones Machine Shop, John Deere, and Cardinal Equipment as a tractor mechanic before working at Plastic Specialty for many years. He then went on to be a maintenance supervisor at TYC, and then to the Vernon State Hospital where he retired in 2013. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to his music and playing with his two cats, Fluffy and Sugar, and his dog, Max. He was a member of Fargo Church of Christ.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Susan Richardson of the home; his daughter, Robin Casarez & husband Chris of Vernon, Texas; his grandson, Christopher Ryan Casarez of Austin, Texas; his sister, Debra Adams & husband John of Waurika, OK; his father-in-law, Loy Knight of Vernon, Texas; his brother-in-law, J.R. Knight & wife Treva of Wichita Falls, Texas, and his sister-in-law, Sonya Richardson of Quanah, Texas. Ricky also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and bonus grandchildren.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Helen Richardson; his brothers, Michael Wayne and Skip, and by his beloved son, William Michael Richardson.
Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2025, at Sullivan Funeral Home from 12:30 pm until funeral services begin.
Memorials may be made to Fargo Church of Christ or Tipton Children's Home.
