Obituary

Robert "Bob" Merrell Webb Jr., 86, of Abilene passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Abilene. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Eastland City Cemetery on Monday, April 1, 2024 with Pastor Toby Castleberry officiating under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home of Stamford.

Bob was born March 4, 1938 in Eastland, Texas to Robert M. Sr. and Emma Peggy Horn Webb. He married Betty J. Jordan, February 18, 1959 in Eastland. Bob served in the United States Navy for four years as a Midshipman. In his early years he worked as Assistant plant manager in Galveston for George C. Smith and Co., later he was promoted to Plan Manager and moved to Santa Cruz, California. Moving back to Texas in the late 70's Bob served the City of Eastland as Municipal Judge for many years. He moved to Abilene and managed the Kiva Inn and later the Abilene Women's Club. He was a member and served as a past Master of the Anson Masonic Lodge #575 and a member of The Valley of Waco Scottish Rites. Bob was a talented gunsmith, repairing and manufacturing handguns and rifles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty of Abilene; son Robert M. Webb III and wife Lori of Vernon; daughter Libbie Jones of Abilene; sister Debra Jaquez and husband Adam of Yoakum, Texas; grandchildren Emily Belcher and husband Nolan and their children Hunter and Lincoln, Billy Jones and wife Amanda and their son Tucker, Robby Jones and his wife Mallory and their daughter Olivia, Lyndie Jones, Sarah Lundgren and husband Brant and their children Beck, RB, and LeRoy, Barlee Barron and his children Asher and Lyrik; and his very special companion June Bug.
