Obituary

Robert Lee Wesley Jr. was born on July 21, 1963, in Quanah, Texas, to Robert Wesley Sr. and Mae Frances Wesley. As the youngest of three children and the baby brother to two sisters, Robert Jr. was lovingly "spoiled rotten" from the very beginning.

Robert attended Regan Elementary School and Travis Junior High School before graduating from Quanah High School with the Class of 1981. He was active in athletics from a young age, proudly winning a Punt, Pass, and Kick contest in elementary school. He continued playing football throughout junior high and high school, where he formed lasting friendships and demonstrated his competitive spirit.

In 1978, Robert gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Robert lived a full and colorful life over his 62 years. He was united in marriage to Denise Garrett, and from that union came his beloved son, Nic, who was a constant source of pride and joy. Throughout his life, Robert lived in Vernon, Duncanville, and Amarillo, Texas, building friendships and leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.

After graduating from high school, Robert began his career at the Oklaunion Power Plant as a Boiler Operator. He later worked at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas, and at DFW Airport, where he maintained boiler units. In 2003, he moved from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to Vernon and began a new chapter of life with Jean Dawson.

Determined and hardworking, Robert attended truck driving school and went on to drive for several companies, traveling across the country. Eventually, wanting to be closer to home, he accepted a position with Tyson Foods. He remained a dedicated driver for Tyson until his recent illness.

Robert Jr. had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.

His generosity, humor, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wesley Sr.; his mother, Mae Frances Carr; and his sister, Mae Helen Wesley Petty.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his beloved son, Nicswaren Wesley (Jerika); his devoted wife, Jean, of the home; his stepmother, Susie Wesley; his sisters, Pat Mitchell (Larry) and Renee Moore; and his stepsisters, Geneva and Linda Carr. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Nichol, Nic Jr., Zaiden, and Zamir.

Robert's memory will also be treasured by his aunt, Mae Denver Mayfield; his nieces and nephews, LaToya Gipson (Johnny), Antwoin Petty, Jimittrius Moore, Tracie Collins (Armand), and Marjon Moore; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jonathan and Olivia Gipson, Mason and Caleb Petty, Keiarah McKinnon, Kynela Powell, Cernity Collins, and Jouri Moore; along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Early Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
