Ronald D. Byers, 71 of Waurika, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Waurika, Oklahoma with Rev. Sean Mayfield officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Ronny was born Monday, April 5, 1954, in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Cecil Byers and the late Wilda Coble Byers. He married Linda Halford on February 1, 1974, in Quanah, Texas.
He was a graduate of Harrold High School. While playing football for the Harrold Hornets, he helped his team become the state runner-up champions. After High School, he played football at Ranger Jr. College and then played semipro football for the Wichita Falls Oilers. Ronny was raised on the Waggoner Ranch and worked in the oil division for ten years. He then became self-employed in the oil production business. Ronny loved his life on the ranch and enjoyed riding horses and pitching horseshoes. He was also a fisherman, especially enjoying fishing for catfish. He was an avid coin and gun collector. He was also a gifted musician, being able to play the drums and bass guitar. Above all else, Ronny loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Cross Brand Cowboy Church.
Ronny is survived by his wife, Linda Byers, his two sons, Tony Byers of Grandfield, Oklahoma and Stephen Byers of Waxahachie, Texas, and his two brothers, Randy Byers & wife Nita and Richard "Rick" Byers & wife Susan both of Lake Arrowhead, Texas. Ronny also leaves behind four grandsons, Barron, Grayson, Jameson and Carson, one granddaughter, Andersen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to Cross Brand Cowboy Church or Hospice of Wichita Falls .
