Ronald Lee Cavaness, 81 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.

Ron was born Thursday, March 23, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was the son of the late Paul Cavaness and the late Gladys Kinder Cavaness. He served in the United States Air Force twenty-nine and a half years, retiring as a Civil Engineer Chief Master Sargent. He then worked for the North Texas State Hospital as the Maintenance Plant Manager.

Ron is survived by his son, Ronald David Cavaness of Lubbock, Texas, and his three daughters, Mellissa Laxson of Vernon, Texas, Linda Smithwick of Vernon, Texas, and Sandra Cordova of Plainview, Texas. Ron also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his son, Paul Cavaness.
