Rosaura Barroso Serrano passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Rosaura was born on February 2, 1956, in San Miguel Octopan, Guanajuato, Mexico, and lived a life defined by hard work, faith, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

On January 5, 1975, Rosaura married the love of her life, Alberto Serrano, in her hometown of San Miguel Octopan. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and family values. A woman of extraordinary diligence, she dedicated 39 years of loyal service to Waggoner Ranch. Though she had no formal education, Rosaura was a lifelong learner who continually challenged herself, proudly learning to drive and speak English. She became a United States Citizen over 20 years ago.

Rosaura's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Baptized in 1992, she served her church community faithfully by preparing meals and assisting with church maintenance. She found joy in sacred music, especially her favorite hymn, "Te Loamos Oh Dios." In her leisure time, she delighted in watching the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball team. She loved going out to eat breakfast and walking around the store, especially Walmart. She had a keen sense of humor which at times was sardonic.

Rosaura is survived by her beloved husband, Alberto Serrano; her five children: Jose (Veronica), Alberto Jr. (Carolina), Roberto (Callee Jo), Rachel (Rafael), and Aladino (Katrina Lee McGillis); and her cherished grandchildren: Emmy Anahi Serrano, Nadia Alesandra Serrano, Jose Andres Serrano, Lorri Pristine Serrano, Jaime Andres Cano Rojas, John Alejandro Cano Rojas, and Juan Felipe Leon Rojas. Her warmth, strength, and memory will remain forever in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her mom Ascension Perez Santana and Siblings Roberto and Rosario

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Iglesia Adventiste del Séptimo Día, 3215 Morton St., Vernon, Texas, with Liudan Lebeque Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Rosaura Barroso Serrano falleció rodeada de sus seres queridos el domingo 20 de septiembre de 2026. Rosaura nació el 2 de febrero de 1956 en San Miguel Octopan, Guanajuato, México, y vivió una vida caracterizada por el trabajo arduo, la fe y una dedicación inquebrantable a su familia.

El 5 de enero de 1975, Rosaura contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Alberto Serrano, en su pueblo natal de San Miguel Octopan. Juntos construyeron una vida basada en la fe y los valores familiares. Mujer de extraordinaria dedicación y perseverancia, Rosaura brindó 39 años de servicio fiel al Waggoner Ranch. Aunque no tuvo una educación formal, Rosaura fue una aprendiz de toda la vida y siempre buscó superarse. Con orgullo, aprendió a conducir y a hablar inglés. Se convirtió en ciudadana de los Estados Unidos hace más de 20 años.

La fe de Rosaura fue uno de los pilares de su vida. Fue bautizada en 1992 y sirvió fielmente a su comunidad de la iglesia, preparando alimentos y ayudando con el mantenimiento de la iglesia. Encontraba alegría en la música sacra, especialmente en su himno favorito, "Te Loamos, Oh Dios". En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba ver a los Kansas City Chiefs y también le gustaba ver jugar al equipo de béisbol Chicago Cubs. Le encantaba salir a desayunar y caminar por las tiendas, especialmente Walmart. Tenía un gran sentido del humor, que en ocasiones podía ser sarcástico.

A Rosaura le sobreviven su amado esposo, Alberto Serrano; sus cinco hijos: Jose (Veronica), Alberto Jr. (Carolina), Roberto (Callee Jo), Rachel (Rafael) y Aladino (Katrina Lee McGillis); y sus queridos nietos: Emmy Anahi Serrano, Nadia Alesandra Serrano, Jose Andres Serrano, Lorri Pristine Serrano, Jaime Andres Cano Rojas, John Alejandro Cano Rojas y Juan Felipe Leon Rojas. Su cariño, fortaleza y recuerdo permanecerán para siempre en sus corazones.
