Obituary

Rosemary Catherine Teague, 77 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Rosemary was born Monday, June 27, 1949, in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was the daughter of the late Percival Overbury and the late Margaret Butlin Overbury. Rosemary studied Chemistry and Botany at the University of Witswatersrand in Johannesburg. After graduating she taught Chemistry and Biology at Fort Victoria High School in Rhodesia where her students frequently had the highest standardized exam scores in the country.

Rosemary went on to study computer programming before marrying Richard in 1979 and moving to South Africa where she became a lecturer in computer programming at Fort Hare University. Rosemary left teaching after she and Richard welcomed their first child, Neil.

The family moved to Texas in 1991 where Rosemary focused on the education of her own children, Neil, Tim, and Debbie. She later became secretary to local businessman Joe Jones before becoming the office manager for Texas Foundation Seed Service, where she worked until her retirement in February 2021.

Rosemary's love of teaching continued as she became a leader in both Boy Scouts and Camp Fire while her children were active in the programs.

One of the highlights of Rosemary's life was spending time with her grandchildren, Abby, Libby, and Tommy. She cherished every opportunity to teach, encourage, and share her love of learning with them, just as she had done with generations of students and with her own children. Rosemary's greatest legacy is the love she gave to her family and the many lives she touched through her lifelong dedication to learning, teaching, and helping others.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Richard Teague, her children, Neil, Tim, and Debbie, her grandchildren, Abby, Libby, and Tommy and her sisters, Ruth Stella and Rosalind Smart.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Percival & Margaret Butlin Overbury and her brother, George Overbury.
