Obituary

Rosie Lee Nava, 88 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in Vernon, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating.  Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Rosie was born Thursday, September 6, 1934, in Thalia, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Sefrino Lagunas and the late Lupe Montez Zenon. She married Frank Nava on October 2, 1950 in Vernon, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2007. Rosie worked at Vernon Manufacturing, Village Inn, and Bealls Department Store.  Rosie attended First Assembly of God in Vernon, Texas.  Rosie loved to fish with her husband, Frank, her children, and grandchildren.  She enjoyed camping and sewing.

Rosie was very dedicated to her family. She would spend many hours teaching the boys and girls just how to bait a fish hook.  She spent many hours showing her girls and granddaughters how to sew and cook.  Rosie found Christ in 2007, and she was baptized with her late husband at First Assembly of God.

Rosie is survived by daughters, Rosetta Ryerson, Mary Swindle, Debra Nava, and Christy Nava, all of Vernon, Texas; sons, Jimmy Joe Nava of Wichita Falls, Texas, Michael Nava and Nicky Nava, both of Vernon, Texas, and Cody Nava of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother, Geronimo Lagunas of Burkburnett, Texas; sisters, Vivian White and Emma Nava, both of Vernon, Texas. Rosie also leaves behind twenty grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren, and forty-eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, Frank Nava; son, Frank Nava, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Jean Turkett; granddaughter, Maggie Rose Baker; grandson, Michael Paul Echols; brothers, Joe Lagunas, David Lagunas and Stephen Lagunas; sisters, Victoria Gomez and Helen Nava.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
