Sammy Cisneros born Servando Cisneros on August 21, 1940 died February 24, 2022 in Vernon, Texas at 6:30 a.m.

He lived a full life leaving us all a legacy of stories filled with grit, humor and courage in all he did. Despite all of the hardship he endured, starting as a young man with the murder of his father, he raised his brothers and sisters in a time when there was little help. His parents Jessie Cisneros and Elvira Villa Cisneros, brothers Vivian Cisneros, Arnold Cisneros and his sister Irma Brackeen his nephew Arnold (Buster) Cisneros have preceded him.

He is leaving behind his rich history of being a grandpa, cowboy, farmer, father, uncle and brother. He held his position as the head of the family very seriously and held that spot with pride and joy. He's beloved by his nieces and nephews whom he was very important to.

His children Teresa Cisneros, Dave & Yolanda Mathews, Oscar Cisneros, Vincent Cisneros and his grandchildren Heather Cisneros, Jasmine Mathews, Lauren Mathews, Noah Mathews, Chris & Ava Peterson, William Peterson, Gavin Cisneros, Elena Cisneros – Simon and his great grandkids Phoenix Mathews, Willow Bussard, Cyrus Jozic, Saya Rei Strickland, Mathew Bussard will miss him and remember all of the good he brought to our family. He will be dearly missed by his brothers Edward Cisneros, Rudy Cisneros and his sister Delfina Perez. His best friends were his siblings who he spoke with every day. He consistently got into mischief with his brother Ed and always greeted him on the phone with "wake up America". It was a race every day to see who would call first thing in the morning.

Daddy had a way of making sad feelings happy, hardship into wisdom, talking to the kids and bringing out courage in those who had the strength to listen to his teachings. He taught us the importance of laughter and the last months of his life he shared with his children all he had learned from life and articulated the immense love he had for us and our families and how proud he was of the people we have become. He brought us all closer and we will forever be blessed by him. We love you big, big, big, big, big Dad!
