Shirley Jean Cromartie, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace. Originally from Childress, Texas, Shirley was deeply rooted in her faith, family, and community.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 22, 2025, at 2:00pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Shirley was born Sunday, September 24, 1944, in Childress Texas, to the late Willard Neel and the late Zelta Mae White Neel. On October 23, 1973, she married the love of her life, George Cromartie of Quanah, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, resilience, and family. George preceded her in death, but their love continues to live on in the generations that follow.

Shirley was a talented cosmetologist whose creativity and care touched many over the years. Outside of work, she found joy on the golf course, where she shared countless cherished rounds with her husband, daughter and many friends. Golf was more than just a hobby — it was one of the ways she connected with those she loved most. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Quanah, Texas.

She is survived by her loving daughter: Christi Hollenbaugh and spouse John Mark of Vernon, Texas, and three granddaughters:  Keelie Vaught and husband Drake of Elk City, Oklahoma; Karcie Smith and partner Donnie of Stephenville, Texas; and Kimalie Jo Hollenbaugh of Vernon, Texas. She was a proud and loving "Meme" to five cherished great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Beckett, Bowen, Channing, and Hayes. Shirley is also survived by her one and only brother, Jerry Neel, and his wife Teresa of Garland, Texas, along with extended family and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Those who knew Shirley will remember her warm heart, quick wit, maybe even a joke or two, and unwavering support from her family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6-7pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
