Shirley LaRue Nichols, 86 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Electra, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Sullivan Funeral Home with Dr. Derrell Monday officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Shirley was born Wednesday, October 28, 1936, in Vernon, Texas. She was the daughter of the late John Edward McLean and the late Mary Irene Richie McLean. She married Wallace "Gene" Nichols on April 11, 1957, in Grandfield, Oklahoma. Gene passed away October 27, 2019. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Vernon, Texas. She was a member of the Eastern Star and TOPS.  She was an office administrator for the Bank of Vernon, and then Crown Quality.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vernon.

Shirley is survived by her daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Jamie & Gayla Slaugenhop of Vernon, Texas, and her sister, Charolette Lockett of Decatur, Texas.

Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Michael Eugene Nichols; her daughter, Pamela Nichols Slaugenhop, and her brothers, James McLean and John E. McLean, Jr.
