Slade Peyton Lucas Maldonado, 30 of Austin, Texas passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2023,  in Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 14, 2023 at 10:00am at the Wilbarger Auditorium in Vernon, TX. with Rev. Ric Rosalez, Chano Maldonado and Candace Ochoa officiating.

Slade was born Wednesday, January 6, 1993 in Vernon, Texas, he was the son of Chano Maldonado and April Smith Maldonado. Slade was a graduate of Vernon High School, Class of 2011. Slade started working in 2012 at North Texas State Hospital as a PNA, while working he pursued a degree in nursing at Vernon College. He then graduated LVN school and continued right along to receive his Associates Degree and then he graduated RN school in 2018. Slade received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas in Arlington and then his Master of Science in 2022, becoming a Nurse Practitioner of psychology.  He moved to Austin in September of 2022 and started his career at Deer Oaks in Austin, Texas.

Slade was very special in many ways, he loved enormously and unconditionally. He was loved dearly by so many friends, family and colleagues. Slade had a drive for success and it showed in his accomplishments. Not only was he an expert in his field but his kind heart and personality will leave a big void with anyone that met Slade. He lived the best life and went out on top.

Slade leaves behind his parents Chano and April Smith Maldonado, his siblings Dominic(April) Maldonado, Carey (Alan) Rabel, Phoebe (Tim) Reeves, Chuck (Tiegh) Maldonado, Josh (Crystal) Maldonado and Chase (Megan) Maldonado. His nieces and nephews, Alicia (Kane), Natalia, Julia, Eric, Ethan, Elijah, Jessi, Graden, Tessa, Katie, Kenzie, Chloe, Caden, Emori, TeAta, Bryar, Madison, Brody, Addy, Jace and Elaina, and one great nephew Judiah. His grandparents Delmer Nava, Stella Maldonado and Jesse Maldonado, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Slade is preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen Nava, Jimmy Lee and Shirley Smith, Uncle Jay Lee Smith and Aunt Kimbra Lea Malcolm. One nephew Christoper Maldonado.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00-8:00pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
