Obituary

Theresa Johnson of Vernon, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Vernon, Texas.

Memorial services will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Donnell and Rev. Norris Thomas officiating.

Theresa was born Friday, November 17, 1933, in Ben Franklin, Texas. She was born to the late Clint and Rosie Lee Oats Branch. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Theresa lived a beautiful 92 years of life, filled with faith, hard work, family, friendship, and love. Above all, Theresa loved God, and her faith remained an important part of her life. She was a devoted and hardworking woman who took pride in working until her retirement in 1995.

One of Theresa’s greatest joys was fishing. She especially loved fishing with her sister, Clarene, and her dear friend, Dorothy. When it came to fishing, the three were inseparable and shared many wonderful memories together. Theresa also enjoyed going to church and cooking, both of which brought her great joy. Those who knew and loved Theresa will always remember two of her favorite sayings: “God willing” and, whenever someone told her they loved her, “I love you more!”

Teresa was preceded in death by her sister, Clarene Branch; her daughters, Teresa Jackson and Diane Gulley; and her granddaughter, Latoyia Dalley.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Angelette Wynn of Vernon, Texas; and her son, Rickie Johnson and his wife, Janet Johnson, of Glenn Heights, Texas.

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Gwendolyn Allen of Forney, Texas; Natoya Harris and her husband, Christopher Harris, of Mansfield, Texas; Crystal Lindsey and her husband, Gerard Lindsey, of Crowley, Texas; Leonard Gulley of Arlington, Texas; Ashley Johnson of Glenn Heights, Texas; Courtland Akinloye and his wife, Mary, of Crossroads, Texas; Derek Gulley of Dallas, Texas; and Dangelo Sparkman and his longtime partner, Khailei Stewart, of Vernon, Texas.

Teresa’s legacy continues through her 11 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Theresa’s 92 years were truly a blessing. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, hardworking spirit, love for her family and friends, and the special way she made those around her feel loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, wisdom, and cherished words will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

“God willing.” “I love you more!”
