Velva Jo (Bridges) McCrary passed peacefully on July 26, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on August 20, 1927 in Vernon to Osa and Jewel Bridges and was married to Charles Innes McCrary until his death in 1997.

Jo was a lifelong resident of Vernon and after raising her family, she worked at the First Presbyterian Church for 17 years. In 2010, Jo moved to The Landon Independent Living facility in Dallas to be near her children, granddaughter and great grandchildren. She enjoyed living at The Landon where she made many new friends and reconnected with several residents who grew up in and around Vernon.

Jo is survived by daughter, Marilyn Jackson; son Mark McCrary; granddaughter Betsy McBee (husband Clay); great-granddaughter Ashleigh Hall; great-grandsons Jackson and William McBee; brother-in-law Dan White; niece Stacy White as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial will be Wednesday , May 17, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Vernon, Texas.
