Randy Chapman of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Wednesday night, July 10, 2024, in Vernon, Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19th, at 2:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Russel Levassar officiating. Viewing will be available starting at 12:00 PM on July 19th and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Decker Cemetery in Nolan County, Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home, with a short graveside service.

Randy was born on June 8, 1955, in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Beulah Gaston Chapman and Jack Chapman of Blackwell, Texas. He was raised among his large extended family and cousins in Blackwell, where he was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Blackwell in 1971. Randy played tight end for Blackwell High School and graduated in 1973. He served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army starting on May 28, 1978, and served for six years. During his service, he was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Rifle Badge. Randy married Gayla Sue Chapman on May 2, 1992, in Vernon, Texas. He retired from the Oklaunion Power Plant in 2021, where he worked as a Maintenance Manager for the entire facility.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Gaston Chapman; his father, Jack Chapman (1965); his two sisters, Marguerite "Monty" Hahn and Vesta Lee "Sis" Wilson; his son-in-law, Don Wilson; and his aunts and uncles, L.D. Gaston, Cliff Gaston, Fred Gaston, Kell Gaston, Margaret Gaston Cole, Marie Gaston Romine, G.K. Gaston, and Bob Gaston.

Randy is survived by his daughter, Linn Conrad, and her husband Darren of Lago Vista, Texas; his stepson, Paul Sileo, of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Matthew Conrad, Meagan Conrad, Ethan Sileo, Emmy Sileo, and Everett Sileo; his son, Tom Chapman, of San Antonio; two grandsons, Daulton Chapman and Mitchell Chapman; one granddaughter, Kyleigh Chapman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
