Yudy Joren Scott-Cooper, 56, of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1970, in Vernon to Verna Jo Scott and Dillard Landrum.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October3, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ with Rev. Early Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. 

Yudy was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She devoted 10 years to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant at Vernon Care Center. Her compassion extended beyond her work and into the lives of everyone she welcomed into her heart and home.

 Above all, Yudy treasured being a mother and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and cherished the time they spent together. The love she shared and the memories they created will remain close to their hearts. 

Yudy had a way of making sure people knew they were loved. Until the day she passed, she was still checking on others, sending texts, and reminding them how much she loved them. She showed up for people time and time again, opening her home to anyone who needed a place to stay. Her door was always open, and a visit with Yudy was sure to bring a good laugh. She was funny, real, and never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. Her humor, honesty, and generous heart made her someone people could turn to and always remember. 

In June 2017, Yudy married Reverend David Cooper, who preceded her in death in 2023. She was also preceded in death by her father, Dillard Landrum; her grandmother, Helen Francis Scott; and her grandfather, Bennie D. Scott. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Verna Scott of Vernon, Texas; her children, Clyde Gates of Mansfield, Texas, and Adasha Wilson-Morales and her husband, Justin Morales, of Vernon, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren, Edmond Gates Jr., Delilah Gates, Zayden Morales, Zaylyn Gates, Quincy Gates, and Kreed Morales. Yudy is also survived by her siblings, Shelia Richardson of Vernon, Texas; Sharleene Young of Dallas, Texas; Anthony Wayne Scott of Odessa, Texas; Reginald Scott of Vernon, Texas; and Tressy Scott of Wichita Falls, Texas. She is also survived by her half siblings, Renee; Shirley Fay Knox of Vernon, Texas; Clarence Landrum; Willie Alexander of Wichita Falls, Texas; Sandra Green; Deedee Castillo; and Blossie, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends. 

Yudy will be deeply missed, but the laughter she brought, the shelter she offered, and the love she so freely gave will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2026, from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel.
